In case you missed it, it brings me great pleasure to officially announce the presence of 3 new coaches that will have official time slots on the weekly schedule very soon.
A couple months back, we opened up the Instructor’s Training Program (ITP), where we go through the ins-and-outs of coaching a CrossFit class on a weekly basis. In this program our coaches (current, new, and interning) refine their skills in a rigorous process to bring only the most knowledgeable, charismatic, committed, and prepared coaches to the floor officially. We discuss coaching theory, movement theory, how to run an effective class, and practical application of these topics, as well as have the interns shadow classes before eventually coaching entire ones on their own, under supervision of a current coach.
The ITP will continue and more coaches will be forged, but for now please welcome with open arms your new coaches!
Myself, Ivan, and Hayrich were all involved in the development of these new staff members, and support them completely in their growth and current prowess as coaches. As we look to the future and continue to grow as a community, new additions to the staff are necessary. With that being said we also extend a very warm ‘thank you’ to all of you who have been extremely supportive of having new faces in front of the class.
As always, if there are any questions about this, please feel free to contact us directly or bring it to our attention in-person.
Now who the heck am I talking about?!
“Coach Kish” is our in-house cross of Vin Diesel, The Rock and Terry Crews, packing some big weightlifting numbers and surprising big-man finesse gymnastics skills with a personality to match. The first coach to officially come out of the ITP, Kishan has also been one of our most involved members since our doors opened, participating in nearly every competition we did, and also playing with myself and Ivan on a 3-on-3 basketball team for a local tournament. Don’t let his intimidating demeanor and pre-WOD battle cries fool you though, Kishan is actually extremely approachable and his class is guaranteed to be “the best hour of your day” as he would say. Just ask all the ladies. Kishan is currently a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer.
“Coach Ari” is a former high-level competitive sprinter and long-jumper who brings an even higher level of intensity and passion to everything she does, from her own workouts to leading her classes. A drop-in who was on vacation in Curaçao found out after class she was an ‘interning’ coach, and was extremely surprised because the class ran as if it were a veteran’s class. The current second-fittest woman in Curaçao delivers a very textbook structure in her classes, making it challenging enough for seasoned athletes, while still being a welcoming and thorough learning experience for new members and drop-ins. Ari is currently a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer, and a CrossFit Kids Trainer.
“Coach Dili” may be unassuming in his stature, but the boy can move with the best of them! In basketball, softball, soccer, and air soft games, Dili has the ability to lead a group or play any other role, making him a very good addition to our coaching staff. Dili is also what I would consider a classic case of someone who ‘drank the CrossFit Kool-Aid’, completely immersing himself into the program, pursuing his education as a coach and bettering himself as an athlete. Dili’s outgoing and welcoming nature makes it very easy to ask him questions, so feel free to throw any at him– he has the answers! Dili is currently a CrossFit Level 2 Trainer.
